Alberto De Gobbi is a visual artist and immersive experience creator working at the intersection of video art, sound, and digital technologies.
He began his artistic career in Italy between 2006 and 2013, where he developed a multidisciplinary practice encompassing painting, video art, and sculpture. During this period, he also pursued studies in computer science, acquiring technical skills that enabled him to work fluently with digital tools for artistic creation. This technical background allowed him to explore digital media as expressive language, including video production, real-time manipulation, sound design, and music creation through computational processes. His research in this phase included digital sound processing, binaural sound techniques, and the use of software-based tools for audiovisual composition.
Between 2007 and 2009, he worked as an assistant to sculptor Giancarlo Meggiato, contributing to the production of large-scale bronze sculptures using the lost-wax casting technique. This experience reinforced his understanding of materiality, spatial composition, and large-scale artistic production. His early work was presented in exhibitions and festivals across Italy, including Venice, Padua, Florence, Rome, and Siena.
From 2018 to 2023, he founded and served as artistic director of Piedra Muda Lab with Marc Molinos, an international creative studio specializing in video art, projection mapping, and video scenography based in Barcelona.
The studio collaborated with major cultural institutions, opera houses, and internationally recognized artists such as La Fura dels Baus, Francisco Negrín, and Lita Cabellut, developing audiovisual projects for opera, music, and performing arts productions. Piedra Muda Lab became known for its integration of video as an active scenographic element within live performance contexts.
Since 2023, his artistic research has focused on immersive and experiential formats.
He is the creator of IO SONO, an artistic and performative project that integrates visual art, musical composition, sonic vibration, and digital technology within immersive environments.
The project investigates perception, resonance, and audience participation through interdisciplinary artistic practice.
In parallel, he develops Innerdance Europe, a project dedicated to sound-based immersive experiences and the exploration of expanded states of consciousness through listening and vibration.
As part of this research, he traveled extensively in Asia, including the Philippines and Bali, where he undertook specialized training and participated in immersive learning environments like Innerdance with Pi Villaraza. These experiences contributed to the expansion of his artistic perspective and continue to inform the conceptual framework of his sound-based work.
His work has been recently recognized with an award from Fundación MAPFRE Canarias, acknowledging the relevance and quality of his contemporary artistic practice.
Alberto De Gobbi is currently based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, where he continues to develop interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with cultural institutions and international partners.
